Dental Implants

Dental implants are becoming an increasingly popular method for replacing missing teeth. In this procedure, titanium posts are screwed into your jawbone where it will eventually fuse to the bone. Then, an abutment and a crown are placed. Dental implants are not only used for individual tooth replacement, but, can also be used to help anchor a denture in place.

Advantages of dental implants
  • Implants can anchor a denture eliminating the need for a denture adhesive
  • Implant supported crowns are extremely natural looking
  • Fusion of the implants into your jaw make them very stable and comfortable
  • You do not need to shave two perfectly good teeth down like you do for a porcelain bridge
  • They can last a lifetime

Disadvantages of dental implants
  • Implants are generally more expensive than a porcelain bridge
  • The process of getting implants can be time consuming and requires multiple visits to the dentist
  • There is a chance the implant does not fuse to the bone surgery (roughly 5% of the time)
