Root Canal--Endo

Root canal therapy is treatment used to repair and save a tooth that has been infected due to a deep cavity or cracked tooth. The treatment involves removing the pulp and the nerves of the tooth and replacing it with a special cement material. . If the treatment is not performed, infection builds up at the root tip and  can spread to the surrounding bone. This results in pain and swelling. If a root canal (endodontic treament) is not performed then the tooth will need to be extracted. In many instances, the endodontically treated tooth will require a crown afterwards to prevent the tooth from fracturing.
